Grand Forks, BC – Community Futures Boundary (CFB) has received official notice that the Economic Development Contract (in place since 2019) with the Regional District to provide economic development services to the City of Grand Forks and rural Grand Forks (Area D) will not be renewed effective April 30th.
As a long-standing not for profit business development organization, CFB has played a key role in investment attraction and economic development services for the City and Area D. Some deliverables under this contract include the development and maintenance of InvestGrandForks.com, and the production of sector development videos, and initiatives to promote Grand Forks/Area D as a destination for new business and residential investment.
While unfortunate, the cancellation of the contract will not affect CFB’s daily operations; however, Economic Development inquiries, projects and activities specific to the City and Area D will no longer be CFB’s responsibility. Inquiries regarding any of this work should be directed to the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and/or the City of Grand Forks moving forward.
“CFB has a federal mandate to work on “local solutions to local problems” and we will remain actively involved in regional economic development projects” says Jennifer Wetmore, General Manager CFB. “As always, we are here to help businesses with financing, training, one on one business consulting and our WorkBC program remains unaffected. We look forward to hearing more about the shifting focus of economic development activities for the City of Grand Forks and Area D in the coming months.”
