For Immediate Release

Community Futures Boundary is pleased to announce we have entered into a one year agreement with the Regional District Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) to deliver economic development services for the City of Grand Forks and Electoral Area D/Rural Grand Forks.  This falls on the heels of a successful 2 year pilot project, funded by the Province, to deliver economic development services for the City of Grand Forks and the immediate surrounding rural area.

“This is really a continuation of a long standing partnership between the City, RDKB (Area D) and Community Futures Boundary”, says Sandy Elzinga Manager of Community Economic Development.  “While we also deliver regional programs and services, this contract allows us to focus, primarily, on positioning Grand Forks as an attractive community for new businesses and citizens.”

As first point of contact for investment inquiries, Community Futures Boundary has seen an increase in the number of inquiries over the past year.  In response, promotional efforts to attract tourism, investment and new citizens have been aligned with the Regional Chamber of Commerce in order to create efficiencies and a more cohesive investment approach.

In addition to encouraging new business growth through investment attraction efforts, Community Futures Boundary also works closely with existing businesses by providing access to the supports and resources they require. This helps ensure the businesses who anchor our community stay and grow.

Building on a three year workplan/strategy developed in 2019, Community Futures Boundary will continue to identify and prioritize projects and initiatives that support community development and improve Grand Forks investment readiness.  For more information visit: www.investgrandforks.com.
