Unifab is the largest custom structural steel production facility in Grand Forks, BC. We are looking for an experienced and dependable Truck Driver to join our team. You will safely and efficiently drive a large commercial vehicle long distances for extended hours to deliver cargo. All safety regulations and standards regarding size, weight, and hours of service must be followed. Our ideal candidate has a Class 1 Driver’s License (CDL) and with more than 5 years previous experience in operating and driving in the Mountains during all weather conditions.  You will also be responsible for receiving cargo, parking in appropriate docks, tracking mileage, and documenting schedules, inventory delivery confirmation, and manifests.

Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan routes to meet delivery schedules
  • Supervise loading and unloading of cargo off truck and ensure cargo is secured
  • Follow all Provincial and Federal truck driving safety regulations and standards
  • Complete documentation for mileage and cargo; keep track of mileage, fuel, and expenses; confirm inventory matches shipping documents
  • Refuel vehicle and check or replace oil as needed
  • Inspect truck daily for damage or maintenance problems
  • Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while driving to supervisors
  • Maintain vehicle equipment

Specific Skills Required: 
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid and current Class 1 Driver’s License (CDL)
  • 5+ years professional driving experience or related work experience
  • Must have a clean driving record with no recent moving violations
  • Proficient at driving a truck with manual transmission, maneuvering, and parking large vehicles
  • Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, isolated location and by various means of transportation.
  • Experience with various trailer configurations such as super-b, step deck, low-bed, ect.
  • Experience with other equipment such as forklift, loaders and cranes are an asset.
  • Physically fit and able to sit for long time periods, perform truck maintenance, and lift 50 pounds comfortably
  • Candidate should be dependable, hardworking and be an effective communicator
  • Able to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays as needed
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
