Teller/Member Service Representative (MSR) - Full-time

Reporting to the Deposit Manager, the Teller/MSR’s main responsibility is to serve members in a friendly, prompt, and efficient manner within the prescribed policies and procedures of the Credit Union.


The Teller/MSR will assist in the training of staff for functions within this position. The following are the most common, routine functions of this position.

  • Perform member transactions as follows:
  • Deposits and withdrawals
  • Cash cheques
  • Process post-dated file
  • Update passbooks
  • Foreign exchange transactions
  • Sell money orders
  • Accept outside agency settlements (i.e. telephone transfers and funds held)
  • Prepare Manager’s cheques and foreign currency drafts
  • Process and sell bonds
  • Process Mastercard cash advances and payments
  • Order PIN and update Mastercards and Membercards
  • Open and maintain accounts and introduce Credit Union services to members
  • Proof new membership cards and account documents
  • Cross sell and process term deposits, registered products, and TFASs
  • Proof cheques
  • Process safety deposit boxes and maintain records and contracts on safety deposit boxes
  • Order member cheques and print encoded cheques
  • Process utility payments
  • Process stop payments and pre-authorized transfers (PATs)
  • Contact members as required
  • Process balance of accounts
  • Administer night deposit documentation and records
  • Process payroll
  • Balance and blotter within time period allowed
  • Assist members with enquiries or difficulties
  • Assist with joint custody duties as assigned (night deposits, mail deposits, ATM and TCR)
  • Answer incoming telephone calls as required
  • May service the automated banking machine after hours by carrying a pager and responding to trouble calls, when assigned
  • Process mail
  • Aid in ATM balancing and dual custody, when assigned.
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services.
  • Follow all security procedures as set out by the credit union.

In all areas of this role, the Credit Union must be represented in a positive and professional manner at all times. In addition to the foregoing duties this position will perform other duties as assigned.


  • Assist in the training of staff for her/his current position.
  • Fully conversant with Credit Union services and knowledgeable of the credit union’s online system.
