The Board of Education of School District No. 51 (Boundary) seeks a proven leader who will provide expertise and guidance in the areas of accounting, finance, human resources and provide corporate services to the elected Board of Education.

As Secretary Treasurer, you will be an integral member of the senior management team, working alongside the Superintendent and Director of Learning. You will report to the Superintendent and oversee all aspects of the District’s financial matters, and have overall accountability for facilities, operations, maintenance and capital planning. You will manage overall business activities and legal aspects of the District. You will be the corporate record holder of Board proceedings, and will provide guidance and support for Board operations and governance.

You are a natural relationship builder who knows how to effectively collaborate with principals, vice principals, teachers, support staff, union presidents and the community at large to create and maintain a positive and supportive working environment. Your leadership style is open and transparent, and you are committed to solving problems promptly, professionally and collaboratively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated successful experience in the public sector at a senior management level;
  • A professional accounting designation – CPA (or legacy designation – CA, CGA or CMA);
  • Experience with provincial legislation compliance requirements;
  • Management level experience in finance and business operations, preferably in the K-12 sector;
  • Experience with support of board governance; and
  • Experience in the areas of purchasing, operations, transportation and health and safety would be an asset.

School District 51 operates on a 4-day week with schools open Monday to Thursday. Schools are located in Christina Lake, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway, Rock Creek, Beaverdell and Big White Ski Resort.

The School Board office is located in Grand Forks, situated on the convergence of the Kettle and Granby rivers and is 2.5 hours from Penticton, Kelowna and Spokane. The School District serves 1,293 students with two 8-12 secondary schools, one grade 8-12 alternative school, seven elementary schools, and a K-9 school at Big White Ski Resort.
