Employer:  Kettle River Museum Society

Project Duration:  17 weeks 1 day/week (7 hours) September 17, 2018 – January 26, 2019

Wage:  $25.00/hour

Location:  Kettle River Bunkhouse Hostel – Midway, BC

Reports Directly to:  Managing Director – Kettle River Museum Society

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Marketing/promotions

  • Apply for membership with Hosteling International as an affiliate
  • Set up online reservations system (on website and/or through Hosteling International membership)
  • Apply for Tourism BC approved accommodation certification
  • Register the hostel with top online booking sites, such as booking.com, expedia.com and trip advisor (.ca and .com)
  • Ensure hostel is listed in all accommodation guides and tourism websites including local Chamber of Commerce
  • Promote in local, regional and provincial tourism guides
  • Start and maintain a weekly blog
  • Create advertisements
  • Design and create website (dependent on budget)
  • Initiate one on one contacts with other hostels & referral network
  • Design & distribute brochures
  • Collaborate with Destination BC/TOTA regarding promotional efforts

 

 

 

Specific Skills Required: 

Required skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Computer proficiency, social media and website experience
  • Background in project management an asset
