Unifab’s COR and CWB certified steel fabrication facility is located in Grand Forks, B.C. Founded in 1999, Unifab has grown and expanded into all areas of custom fabrication for all industries. With an ergonomic 40,000 sq. ft. shop and over 5 acres of yard storage space, we are capable of handling a wide range of projects. Our company has consistently been ranked in the top 50 Kootenay companies, and we are the largest steel fabrication facility in the Kootenay Boundary region. Reporting to the President, the Production Manager plans, organizes and directs the production operations of the facility. The Production Manager is responsible for driving results related to safety, quality, cost and delivery by developing and managing short and long-term planning strategies and processes that result in a positive experience for employees and customers.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Know, enforce and comply with all WorkSafe B.C. and Unifab safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement and control the budgets, production schedules and capacity plans.
  • Manage, direct and train all employees reporting to including but not limited to supervisors.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff.
  • Coordinate daily work schedules with planning, operations, projects, and supervisors.
  • Maintain appropriate manpower to match production needs.
  • Develop MITPs and ensure the requirements are met as laid out in the MITP.
  • Collaborate with estimating to review major project bids to ensure that the scope is fully accounted for within project estimates. Participate in Execution Plan.
  • Coordinate production needs and project requirements with the Operations and Projects groups to create an efficient and maximized flow of product.
  • Review and verify drawings, QA, labour, material, components, deliverables and documentation with Project Coordinators prior to them issuing the package.
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production processes including cost saving efficiencies.
  • Ensure that minimal rework is absorbed by the team and due diligence is conducted to ensure productivity and work efficiencies.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of multiple projects and personnel in a dynamic and time sensitive environment.
  • Assist in setting standard operating procedures and quality assurance standards and ensure they are adhered to.


  • 10 years of experience in steel fabrication.
  • Working knowledge of Lean and 5S.
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial experience with demonstrated success in the ability to structure, lead and motivate teams.
  • Strong ability to plan, develop, organize, coordinate and direct detailed phases of production.
  • Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to maintain strong knowledge of the production status throughout the shop.
  • Able to maintain flow in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proficient computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, MRP (FabSuite, drawing/model viewing software).
Terms of Employment: 
$80,000.00 to $100,000.00 /year
