Job Description: 

Vaagen Fibre Canada sawmill is seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance Millwright for our Midway, BC operation. As an employee you will be directly responsible to provide safe maintenance, repair, installation and modification of all sawmill related equipment.

  •  Install, assemble, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
  •  Perform required routine maintenance on machinery
  •  Lead apprentices in daily preventative maintenance and repairs.
  •  Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during repairs.
  •  To follow company Health and Safety, policies and procedure.
  •  Pre-run all production machines prior to start up.
  •  Promote safe work practices in the plant i.e. lock-out procedures.
  •  Carry out duties as specified by maintenance supervisor and lead hand.
  •  Complete all paperwork/reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  •  Read drawings and schematics to provide correct work procedures
  •  Troubleshooting and repairing production equipment in a timely manner.
  •  Problem solve, analyze and identify waste areas and recommend solutions.
  •  Maintain ongoing communication with other departments and assist in continuous equipment efficiency.

Job Requirements:


  •  Minimum Red Seal Maintenance Mechanic/Industrial Millwright 5 years of experience or equivalent
  •  Sawmill experience is an asset and will be given priority.
  •  Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  •  Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with proven leadership skills.
  •  Must be willing to do shift work and overtime hours. Experience in mechanical component rebuilding.
  •  Experience in machinery installation & rigging.
  •  Capable of heavy lifting and working at heights
  •  Own basic millwrighting tools
  •  Capable of managing multiple projects on a timely basis.
  •  Punctual, flexible-minded and organized.
  •  Must be able to work with minimum supervision and in a team environment.
  •  Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  •  Written & Oral Requirement: English • Must be willing to do shift work and extended hours.

Compensation:  $36.00 - $42.00/hr. depending on experience, availability, and skill set.
