Position is for our Midway, British Columbia location. Midway is located on the BC/Washington Border in the beautiful Kootenay Boundary region. It offers wonderful recreational opportunities year-round. We are surrounded by trails for every mode of transportation (Hike, Bike, Walk, Ski or ATV), two ski hills and golf courses. There is also a wide variety of waterways that are frequented by fishermen, swimmers and boaters alike. A great place to work and play.

Job Purpose

To provide safe maintenance, repair, installation and modification of all sawmill related equipment.

Duties

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans
  • Operating hoisting and lifting device to position machinery and parts during repairs
  • Ability to follow the Company and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
Specific Skills Required: 
  • Minimum 3rd year apprentice Maintenance Mechanic/Industrial Millwright
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of computerized machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Sawmill experience 
  • Red Seal Certification an asset
  • Ability and willingness to work a rotating shift, weekends and overtime
Salary: 
Hourly wage will be based on experience; full benefits and RRSP package
