Succession Planning

As of 2006, 98% of all businesses in BC were small businesses and provided 47% of all employment in the province. A significant number of these businesses are operated by the baby boomer generation and it is predicted that over the next 20 years, there will be a significant shortfall of both business owners and employees.

Community Futures Boundary in partnership with the Grand Forks Credit Union is offering a Succession Planning workshop soon. Watch our event calendar for details.

Welcoming and Inclusive Communities and Work Places

The West Kootenay Welcoming Communities Partnership was created to support the development and stewardship of the region to attract, welcome, engage, and retain newcomers by working together as a mutually supportive and collaborative network focused on undertaking coordinated strategic action through our respective organizations, individually and in concert, to achieve our collective vision and enrich the social fabric of our communities.

WICWP has developed community specific resource packages for Castlegar, Trail, Nelson, and Grand Forks, and provided cultural sensitivity training to First Contacts to help facilitate Newcomers feeling welcomed and included in our communities.
