Boundary Economic Development Services (BEDS)

Get To Know The BEDS:

The Boundary Economic Development Services (BEDS) was formed by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary to assist the communities of the Boundary Region in finding grass roots solutions to their common economic problems. In this role as leader and facilitator of effective community economic development, the BEDS strives to be proactive and strategic, promoting change and long term sustainability, and increasing community involvement, capacity, and empowerment in all local initiatives.

The BEDS has been in existence for 16 years and in 2008 formed a partnership with Community Futures Boundary. Currently, the committee consists of six elected officials from the geographical regions they serve (Christina Lake, Greenwood, Grand Forks, Midway, Area E and Area D).

The Futures Game

The Futures Game is a “stand alone” workshop tool designed to explore how regional and local decisions can shape long term economic, environmental, and community wellbeing. It is a great way to stimulate meaningful discussion and debate about future regional and community scenarios, and to explore decision pathways.
